Advocacy and Legal Aid for Religious Minorities (ALARM)

Advocacy and Legal Aid for Religious Minorities (ALARM) was a 34-month initiative funded by the European Union. The program aimed to strengthen organizational systems of the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP), including training and mentoring on the human rights information and documentation system (HURIDOCS) to enhance the HRCP publications’ quality. The facilitation extended to strategic advocacy and public information campaigns.

Under the agreement, HRCP implemented the project to promote freedom of religion and belief (FoRB) in Pakistan through legal assistance and advocacy drives, especially supporting religious minorities. In addition to direct legal services, other contributions to FoRB included the facilitation of interfaith action, advocacy initiatives, and enhanced human rights monitoring and documentation.

The project provided legal assistance to 115 citizens in 216 cases, up till December 31, 2019.
