TDEA implemented a 12-month project titled “Strengthening Electoral and Legislative Processes (SELP) – National Identity Card (NIC) Registration for Women and Marginalized Groups in Flood-Affected Areas.” The project aimed to assist flood-affected women and other marginalized groups, including the elderly, transgender people, religious minorities, and persons with disabilities, in nine districts: Sanghar, Khairpur, Larkana, Mirpur Khas, Ghotki, and Dadu in Sindh, and Jaffarabad, Nasirabad, and Jhal Magsi in Balochistan. The project facilitated NIC registration and the issuance and delivery of fresh or replacement cards through NADRA. The overall objective of the project was to contribute to increased public trust in electoral processes.
The project was implemented from January 1, 2023, to December 27, 2023, in collaboration with four member organizations of the Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN). Successfully achieving its target, the project facilitated a total of 85,003 individuals in obtaining NICs.
