Enhancing Women’s Political and Electoral Participation (EWPEP) was a 12-month project funded by the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany. EWPEP aimed to enhance the electoral empowerment of and enjoyment of rights by women in Pakistan by decreasing the gap between the number of male and female voters in the districts where the gender gap is more than 10 percent. Of seven districts- four are in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and three in Punjab.
TDEA also provided support to the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) by establishing gender desks at 38 NADRA Registration Centers (NRCs) in the project districts. This will help overcome operational challenges allowing NADRA to facilitate a larger number of women at the NRCs. Each gender desk is equipped to register 40 additional women per day, who are mobilized and facilitated by TDEA’s partners.
