ISLAMABAD, November 20, 2023: FAFEN or Free and Fair Election Network has appointed Mr. Rashid Chaudhry as its National Coordinator. In his new role, Mr. Chaudhry will lead FAFEN’s secretariat, housed within the Trust for Democratic Education and Accountability (TDEA), as the organization continues its unwavering commitment to promoting transparent and inclusive democratic processes in Pakistan.
With a remarkable career spanning over 21 years, Mr. Rashid Chaudhry brings a wealth of experience in democratic development and governance programs to his role as National Coordinator. His extensive expertise in these fields, coupled with leadership roles in national and international organizations, positions him as a dynamic and accomplished leader ready to steer FAFEN towards new heights.
Mr. Chaudhry has been an integral part of FAFEN since 2010, previously serving as the official spokesperson for the organization. He has been contributing to the network’s mission of fostering transparent electoral processes and remained instrumental in designing and implementing the election observation programs for general elections 2013 and 2018. He has been representing FAFEN on both national and international media platforms.
FAFEN is a network of 20 regional networks comprising more than 500 grassroots civil society organizations across Pakistan, committed to promoting transparent and inclusive democratic processes in Pakistan. FAFEN strives to influence people-centred policy and legislative reforms by supporting citizen-led actions, oversight and research for credible elections, accountable public and political institutions, and inclusive governance.
