The Trust for Democratic Education and Accountability (TDEA) is implementing the three-year Women’s Action for Better Workplaces-II (WACTION-II) project, funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Pakistan. The initiative is the continuation of the WACTION project that was completed in December 2018. The project aims to contribute to improving working environments for women workers in Pakistan. It will address a core set of issues that continue to obstruct and impede women’s economic participation primarily by enhancing the individual and organizational capacities of women workers to negotiate and advocate their collective priorities and demands with employers, policy-makers and legislators, and by increasing understanding among legislators, policymakers and the public about necessary changes to legislative and administrative frameworks governing women’s labor through advocacy, public education and other practical actions. The proposed project will be implemented in 14 industrial districts and at least 10 Special Industrial and Economic Zones in Pakistan.
