Reports to: Chief of Party (COP), Ambassador’s Fund Grant Program (AFGP)
Location: Based in Islamabad, with required travel within Pakistan
Duration of Contact: 1 year (initially)
The objective of the position is to ensure visibility and branding of the AFGP programme as per USAID regulations, by delivering high-quality Media and Communications products, in close collaboration with USAID and the U.S. Department of State.
Manage the AFGP Communications and Media Plan:
Ensure that all AFGP products (print and online) comply with the USAID and TDEA requirements
Develop activities and materials (in multiple languages) to inform a wide variety of potential grant partners about AFGP
Coordinate with the USAID Development Outreach and Communications Office and Public Affairs office at the Department of State to develop and execute a social media outreach and communications strategy
Collaborate with the grantees, USAID and the Department of State to plan and execute signing ceremonies and other public events to generate media interest in order to publicize AFGP and U.S. support
Draft press releases for USAID approval on newly awarded and/or ongoing grant projects
Gather and draft compelling “success stories” for each implemented grant in the specified USAID format
Cultivate relations with the print and electronic media, for the promotion of AFGP and its achievements
Manage the Media and Communications Team, as per TDEA HR policies and procedures
Use the AFGP Grants Management Information System (GMIS) to gather and analyze data and information and to translate this data into formats appropriate for sharing with media and in public outreach materials
Contribute to the development of training materials and delivery of training for grant partners related to media and communications; contribute to the development of multi-media training materials (such as video production) on other topics
Lead the development of AFGP monthly, quarterly and annual reports as per USAID/TDEA formats and requirement
As a member of the AFGP Management Team, support the Chief of Party in strategic decision-making
Systematically maintain a backup of all Communications and Media records in soft and hard forms
Perform any other tasks assigned by the COP/CEO
Required Qualifications, Experience and Competencies
Master’s Degree in Communications, Media studies or a relevant field
Minimum 7 years of relevant professional experience, including 5 years of experience directly related to Communications and Media and at least 3 years of management experience
Highly articulate and proven ability to write quality reports, stories, articles etc.
Excellent understanding of the media and communications context in Pakistan
Demonstrable experience in writing press releases, success stories and other grant project materials, including reports
Strong leadership skills and experience; proven ability to lead and motivate teams
Proven experience in trainings on communications and media topics/themes
Highly skilled in the use of software such as Microsoft Office etc.
Willingness to travel to project locations throughout the country
Demonstrated capacity to work independently and as part of a team
Fluency in English and Urdu, both spoken and written
